I'm serious.” … It'd been so hard to obey, to force herself to leave with Kevin and just pretend he was the gorgeous boy with the pretty green eyes.

She'd spend so many nights thinking about him — she hated not getting her way and she'd wanted him. And then at the beginning of the run? God, she'd wanted to pounce on him. To just.. tear his clothes off him and fuck him till they were both panting with exhaustion. But he still had Janet. … But it turns out, Janet was okay with it. James wouldn't have come on to her if she wasn't — he was so cute and obviously one of those loyal types.

So, that knowledge now tucked away, she'd gotten all done up; painting her toenails the same blood red as her fingernails and lips, taking care so that her underwear and bra would match her shoes, wearing a skirt so she wouldn't have to take off her shoes.

That was what did it, she knew. It was all about the shoes. She was a lot smarter than people gave her credit for. Especially when it came to the opposite sex. She didn't have to be the traditional, Hollywood brand of beautiful. She knew her assets and how to work them.

And, in this case, with this particular man, she knew it was shoes. A shoe fetish, if you will. Sexy shoes made him hot.

If she had more restraint, she wouldn't be taking advantage of that... But then she wouldn't really be her.

Besides, he'd been so good the day before. … So much better than Troy. God, he'd made her burn the way she hadn't for anyone other than Mark. And, really, with her husband absent so often, was it that wrong to still crave that fire? Just thinking about the night before made her hot.
